Security council meets on crime


Members of the National Security Council met yesterday at Whitehall for three hours to review and analyse the effectiveness of security arrangements which were recently implemented to deal with the nation’s crime situation.


New technology will soon be implemented to support the police and other crime-fighting units, according to a brief statement from the Office of the Prime Minister. The council, which was chaired by Prime Minister Patrick Manning, included Minister of National Security, Senator Martin Joseph; Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Conrad Enill; Commissioner of Police Trevor Paul, Head of the Special Anti-Crime Unit (SAUTT), Peter Joseph and heads of the Special Branch and the Intelligence Chief.
