Israeli man held in forest

An Israeli national was yesterday discovered hiding in a forested area in East Trinidad by police officers. The man, who was held while in possession of a device used for altering the dates in passports, was handed over to Arouca police.

Police said the man will be interviewed by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations team currently in Trinidad to probe the explosions in Port-of-Spain within the last four months.

He will also be interviewed by the Special Intelligence Unit led by Assis-tant Commissioner of Police James Philbert.

Police Commissioner Trevor Paul yesterday said that he was not aware of the man’s presence and has received no report of the incident.

Police remain tight-lipped about the man’s identity and would only confirm that the man had been detained.
