Cops hunt man who dropped gun and run

PENAL police are on the hunt for a 25-year-old man who dropped a home-made shotgun on the roadway yesterday when he spotted a police vehicle. Police said that the suspect lives in the Penal district and is well-known to them. According to a police report, at about 5 pm police constables Fortune and Taylor were on mobile patrol along Haggard Trace, Penal, when the 25-year-old suspect was seen walking along the road.


As the police vehicle drew closer to the suspect, the policemen observed that he held an object in his hand. As the cops approached the suspect, he turned in their direction and dropped the object onto the road and made good his escape on foot. The policemen picked up the object and saw that it was a home-made shotgun. The gun was not loaded, the report said. The officers followed in pursuit of the suspect, but were unable to locate him. Investigations are continuing.
