Wanted policeman surrenders
A 30-year-old acting police corporal wanted on a warrant for indecent assault surrendered to officers at the St Clair Police Station on Tuesday. He was charged by Sgt Ajith Persad with indecent assault against a female police officer. The incident allegedly occurred in a police station kitchen earlier this year. Reports revealed that the warrant was issued after Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson gave directions in the matter. The constable appeared before Port-of-Spain Magistrate Gillian David in the Seventh Court yesterday and was granted bail in the sum of $30,000. The matter was adjourned to March 19 next year. Yesterday, the acting corporal was served with a suspension notice pending the outcome of the matter.
