Woman found hanging
A 28-year-old woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital on Saturday after she was found hanging from an electrical cord at a relative’s home in Claxton Bay. Dead is Anastasia Edwards, of Cocoyea Village, San Fernando. According to a police report, at about 10 am Edwards went to visit a 21-year-old male relative at his Union Road, St Margaret’s Village home. Edwards and the relative were engaged in a heated argument over a drinking problem, the report stated. The woman then went into another room where, according to the report, she placed an electrical cord around her neck and jumped. The other end was attached to the upper section of a block wall. But, according to the report, within minutes Edwards was cut down by the relative. An emergency ambulance rushed the unconscious woman to the San Fernando General Hospital, but she died before arriving at the casualty department. Cpl Dave Harrigin of the St Margaret’s Police Station is continuing investigations.
