Poor language skills in crime debate

THE EDITOR: The recent debate in parliament on crime gave the nation an opportunity to "hear the representatives in action."

The diction of these learned folk was poor to say the least. The only two speakers of any merit were the Prime Minister and Mr Panday. The others seem to need a course in pronouncing their th’s and ing’s among other grammatical and pronunciation flaws.

It seems that beside teaching new government leaders protocol, they certainly need lessons in public speaking. If they analyse the tapes of the speeches, the need for remedial action is evident.

The debate has done good for me. It has made me aware of the crime of possessing and using poor language skills. I shall endeavour to not follow this woeful example.
