Doomsday prophets hiding in World Cup euphoria

Firstly, to Mr Austin "Jack" Warner, thank you for your unrelenting support over the years. It has gone beyond financial and too many persons have taken your roll for granted. People like you make dreams come true. You are one of a kind. Under all the trials, tribulations, accusations and criticisms, you stand out. Stand tall Mr Warner!! — and never cease to go forward. The journey is yonder and it begins now.

A word of caution though. Be wary of the "Johnny-come- lately-jump-on-the-band-wagon" supporters, the doomsday prophets and soothsayers. Now they will try to hide in camouflage amidst the World Cup euphoria fever. Be that as it may, go forward fearlessly Mr Warner. You are one true warrior.

Secondly, to Mr Leo Beenhakker and staff. Intelligent people always make intelligent decisions. By your selection policies in the last two games against Bahrain, you showed you are a clever and thinking coach.

I have always said that Kenwyne Jones should start the game and you did exactly that. Never mind who is substituted for him to play. Also, your faith in maintaining Kelvin Jack as the goalkeeper paid off as he demonstrated that he is a true champion. Well done, Mr Beenhakker. You make us proud. "Let’s go to the world stage."

Thirdly, to all the players and technical staff (present and past), diehard ticketless supporters, who played and/or gave their hearts out.

Congratulations! We deserve it. Discipline and hard work is almost always rewarded with success. Let this victory become a platform for greater things to come (during the World Cup and beyond).

Early strategic planning, organisation and clinical execution are key to this venture. Finally, we have slain the ghosts of the past. I hope this first-time World Cup berth will bring our country closer to unity, reward and happiness. Life is too short.
