Help my son, he’s in jail
THE EDITOR: Please permit me a space in your column to express the frustration which I currently endure. Such frustration has been brought about by the judicial system which currently governs our society, or one may say the lack thereof. My son has been incarcerated for the past three years, and although his matter has been transferred to the High Court two and a half years ago, he has yet to be given a date for his trial to begin. Those in authority have been nothing less than inhumane to my son and the two others who are also accused of the same crime. I am a parent who is watching her child grow more and more frustrated daily. Could someone please inform me of whose responsibility it is at the DPP’s office in issuing these dates? Surely a blind man can see that it is not issued in any specific order. Also, on every visit to the DPP’s office I am given the same answers to this question, it usually goes like this (1) "next month" or (2) "the person dealing with it is not here." Why should my son endure even more than he has already? Shouldn’t he be given the opportunity to prove his innocence? Our Government keeps raving about 20/20 vision but with a judicial system in such chaos, 20/20 vision is virtually impossible. D BARROW Valsayn
