Umpires bent on destroying Windies
THE EDITOR: Why are the umpires bent on destroying the West Indies Cricket Team? Last week I called on ICC to investigate the unfair decisions against Brian Lara. To defeat West Indies simply target Lara, I expect of course this to be the strategy the Australian’s coach and players, would employ definitely not the umpires. So Lara was unethically targetted, the result was Australia took the series 2-0. Now onto the 3rd Test, after three days I thought we were allowed to compete as I always expected us to do, despite certain strange team selections eg "No spinner in Adelaide." I will deal with this subsequently. However all this changed on the fourth day. Sarwan who look determined to lead the West Indies on was savagely cheated out. Then the unfortunate Dwayne Smith was given out when clearly not out. There was no respite for our players, I believe Denesh Ramdin was also not out. How could you score runs when you are blatantly cheated. Then to add insult to injury, when Australia batted, they received chances and were clearly protected by the umpires. Australia’s Ricky Ponting, do you really believe you beat the West Indies. My players of the series are the umpires. I write this to let West Indians know that given fair chances we are still amongst the best. Please do not write off the West Indies. MANOHAR RAMSARAN Member of Parliament for Chaguanas
