BHP marks one year — incident free
BHP Billiton, Trinidad and Tobago, has completed one year with no lost time injuries (LTI) on its installations. On November 10, 2005, the milestone was achieved at its Onshore Terminal facilities at Guayaguayare, the company said. The Onshore Terminal team has now joined that of the Central Processing Platform which celebrated this safety milestone in September, the Shorebase Facility at Chaguaramas and the Nabors 657 drilling rig, which earlier this year achieved two years without an LTI. The terminal, located at Rust Road, Guayaguayare, is home to two storage tanks with a combined capacity of one million barrels of oil. This is where Calypso crude oil, produced from the Greater Angostura Development, located in Block 2©, is measured and stored prior to export. In recognising the milestone Vincent Pereira, President, BHP, Trinidad and Tobago, noted the team’s performance in terms of a relentless focus on health, safety, environment and the community. "This company starts each day with a deep and unwavering commitment to safety and the environment. Milestones such as this are the fruit not only of the company’s commitment but of each person’s personal commitment to their own safety and that of others" he said. The Greater Angostura Development is operated by BHP Billiton Trinidad and Tobago on behalf of its joint venture partners, Total and Talisman Energy. The Development commenced crude oil production in January 2005 and currently produces approximately 50,000 bopd.
