Games can’t turn children into criminals
THE EDITOR: Do we really think that a game of Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers, or 007 Spy vs Spy are going to turn our children into gun toting criminals? I watch my children and their friends play, when there are not enough toy guns to go around they use other toys, sticks, slippers, even their fingers. How are we going to stop this? These games lend to imagination, teach leadership and other social skills. After we take the guns, what next swords, then boxing gloves? When we are left to sell only scrabble, the children will probably use the tiles as super bullets to throw at each other. Please use your energies to urge the government to take down the criminals (they know who they are but there is no political will to act) then the streets and playgrounds will be safe for our children to use their toys. Please, moderation in thought.
