Shameless chutney dancers

THE EDITOR: For the first time, I had the opportunity to see some of our country’s chutney dance on stage through our local television stations. It was appalling to see the lewd kind of wining and the skimpy wear was beyond my belief. Do these girls have mothers, sisters, brothers and fathers?

Are they themselves others, daughters and sisters? What are their family members saying about this kind of lewd dancing in public? They are bringing shame to educated Indian women of class like me. They are taking our culture to the gutter. Now I can understand why upper class people do not attend chutney shows. These girls are no better than the winer women on the Carnival stage. Alcohol and other kinds of businesses should stop sponsoring these kinds of disgraceful events.
