Life taken without reason

THE EDITOR: Consider that death for many of us produces images of the gates of hell; but in Trinidad we are really inside on the way out; not outside on the way in. Maybe Trinidad is just another planet’s hell. There is a so-called new morality which appears to be the old immorality condoned. For our younger generation the message from wholesome forms of entertainment such as video games is that killing is the norm. They are now the expressors of society; they tax us, they harass us and they tyrannise us. Theirs is a rebellious disregard for authority.

But then family structure is on an accelerating downward plunge. For Mark Rattan, son of our colleague Dr Dipchand Rattan, probably he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But in front of Royal Castle, Curepe Junction? A young budding life snuffed out for no reason, no purpose. A potential healer of the infirm. It appears that Satan resides within our borders and uses misguided youths to undermine God’s sole authority. May Mark’s soul rest in heavenly peace.
