The buck stops here

THE EDITOR: What a total disgrace and shame, to know that the government spent $3 million for three eye in the sky watch towers which are camera-less and without state-of-the-art surveillance equipment. How can those useless units assist in the fight against crime? Is it any wonder then that a police officer remarked the three eye in the sky watch towers have been the greatest fraud to have been imposed on the nation. My goodness, how can a government spend $3 million of taxpayers’ money only to have us believe in falsehood or was this your own way of diverting the attention of the nation, giving them the assurance, confidence and hope that something meaningful and tangible was being done to fight the scourge of criminal activities in the country.

I quite carefully noticed that efforts to communicate with Minister of National Security Mr Martin Joseph and Police Commissioner Trevor Paul for an explanation were futile. I wish to remind the Prime Minister that a former US President Mr Harry Truman had these words on his desk: “The buck stops here.” Now, are we going to hear from the PM, National Security Minister Mr Martin Joseph or Police Commissioner Trevor Paul give an explanation for having bought unworkable technology.
