What shall it profit a man?
THE EDITOR: Please permit me the opportunity to respond to a letter that was published on December 28 2005, entitled "I was chased out of the country." Pastor Ragoonath has chosen this forum to mislead our citizens into believing that he was wronged in some way or the other and to paint a negative picture of our country. I hope that by writing this letter, I would be able to dispel all of his accusations and stories. Pastor Ragoonath left Trinidad in August 1987 to attend Florida Bible College in Kissimmee, Florida. After studying for many years, he returned to Trinidad to start a church, as he said "Church Planting." His family opened their hearts to him and they tried their best to assist him in his endeavours, because they really wanted him to succeed. They would drive him around to conduct his business without taking a cent for gas or any other expense. When he held banquets for Grace Brethren Ministries, they would be there cooking the food and preparing the place for the banquet. The banquets were held at one of his cousin’s home. Pastor Ragoonath never had to pay to use his cousin’s home nor did he have to pay for any of the assistance he received in preparing for the banquets. The people who attended the banquets were again his family and friends of his family. Pastor Ragoonath would video tape the banquets to send it to Grace Brethren Ministries in the United States, to probably impress them with how well things were going in Trinidad so they would send more money for him, but he used his family. They were there to support him as any family would, but the videos showed them as being part of his congregation, which was misleading. I have only one thing to say to Pastor Ragoonath, he should really read his bible and try to apply its teachings to his life. Remember the bible says: "For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" ADAM JOSEPH Kelly Village Trinidad
