Pizza Boys stirs up fast food industry

Pizza Boys Chairman Mario Sabga-Aboud believes the addition of its sea food franchise, Captain D’s, to its plate is going to revolutionise the local fast food industry.

His comments came at the opening of the company’s massive food mall last at the Point-a-Pierre in South Trinidad.

Sabga-Aboud said he believes the sea food chain is going to boost the company’s profile. With Pizza Boys, Church’s Chicken, Rituals Coffee House, Vie de France, Wok ‘n’ Roll and Donut Boys, the company has become a formidable company.

Pizza Boys is the latest company to piggyback on the sea food palette. KFC last December opened its Long John Silver at Gulf City.

A variety of choices under one roof, was how Sabga-Aboud described this latest venture at Point-a-Pierre.

The food mall also features the nation’s largest indoor playpark and employs some 165 employees.

It cost a whopping $15 million to outfit the food mall with the latest in preparation equipment. The mall is also equipped with a modern security apparatus to guarantee a safe eating environment.

Sabga-Aboud said Captain D’s is a seafood giant which boasts of having over 600 restaurants in the USA. Captain D’s possesses a wider variety of seafoods including a low-carb menu for the health-conscious customer, Sabga-Aboud said.

Co-ordinator, Robert Jones, said that the restaurant chain was established in 1969 in the United States. Apart from Trinidad, the only other two outlets are in the United States army bases in Japan and Korea.

Sabga-Aboud has taken charge, together with two other employees, for the maintaince of food standards at the Pointe-a-Pierre outlet. Jones said that all foods were prepared under the strictest standards together with freshly prepared salads.

He predicted that the food mall which catered to every palate, would become the Pizza Boyz group’s flagship restaurant store given its close proximity to Petrotrin and Point Lisas Industrial Estate.

Pizza Boyz group CEO, Jearlean John, explained that the Southland was chosen as the launch pad for its food mall, the area being the food basket of the nation.

She said that service, together with the highest levels of professionalism, were the hallmarks of the Pizza Boys Group of Companies.
