Exemplary leaders wanted
THE EDITOR: Recent events in the country have prompted me to ask the following question: "Are our leaders leading by example?" What has become a shameful and worrying situation is to see Government and Opposition, pastors and other high-ranking members of the society being hauled before the courts. It is no wonder why our young people are so heartless. If the crime situation is to be dealt with effectively, there must be a cleansing from the top. When persons who hold top positions are accused of breaking the law or abusing their positions, they should be given fair and speedy trials and if found guilty, they should be fined or sent to prison. Parents too, must clean up their acts. We must send the right signals to the youths of our nation if we want a reduction in the crime rate. I B MARK Arouca
