Pay on time

THE EDITOR: I am writing this letter concerning some of the workers of the Ministry of Works, who do not receive their pay on time. After working for two weeks and expecting pay on that Friday, only to receive it on the Tuesday or the Wednesday of the third week. This could never be right. It has been going on for too long and is totally unacceptable and also should not be continued. So many times in the past they have protested for what they wanted but these workers have not stopped working neither do they put down their tools to protest, yet they continue to go to work morning after morning, inspite of their situation.

Should I have to mention the needs of the families or the households that are so dependant on the monies at the end of each fortnight? I don’t think so! I believe that this is a job for the union who is supposed to be representing the workers and also a job for all those responsible for the paper work in those offices. The union is there to address the concerns of the workers, then I must ask the question, what is the purpose for paying union dues?
