Stealing electricity, a big problem

THE EDITOR: The big problem I have with TTEC’s proposed rate increase is that I am not satisfied that the company has done all in its power to minimise the incidence of the stealing of power. I have heard about numerous instances where people simply make illegal connections to their homes and do not pay a cent to TTEC.

In other cases, I understand that billing is done merely by estimates because meter readers are afraid to go into some areas to get accurate readings. My information is that in most of these instances the estimates are significantly lower than the actual usage.

Who can forget that scandalous episode where at TTEC crew went into a certain area to make some disconnections and were forcibly run out of the area. I do not know if the crew was ever able to return to do its job or if the residents ever brought their bills up to date.

I would really appreciate if TTEC can give me assurances that these issues have been properly addressed. If not then the company is asking me to pay for other people’s electricity. That is simply unfair.
