Thanks for the leg Mr Rahael
The Editor: With all of the negative things happening in our country I must share the positive that is happening. My name is Sharaden Ali-Lopes of 22 Salamat Ali Street, Arima. On January 10th I decided to write a letter to the Minister of Health concerning a longstanding injury my husband sustained 15 years ago. Due to the nature of the injury my husband has never been able to walk on his own as he must use crutches to do so. He has made a decision to amputate his leg and would like to be fitted with a prosthetic. Due to the recent publications in the media, on the drive the Ministry of Health is spearheading with helping the less fortunate, this prompted me to write the letter to the Minister. I dropped off the letter to the Ministry on January 11, 2006 at approximately 9 am in the morning with the supporting documents concerning my husband’s injury. By the time I arrived home from work that afternoon my husband indicated to me that Mr John Rahael himself called my house to discuss the matter. Mr Rahael was very concerned of the decision my husband has made after such a long time but agreed to assist him with being fitted with a prosthetic leg after the amputation. I just want the citizens of this country to know that Mr Rahael is not only acting with professionalism but he is also acting out of compassion and we need more Ministers like him to make this country a better place if we are to move forward with the vision that the Government of this country has so stated. I just want to commend Mr Rahael and his Ministry for the emphasis placed on helping the less fortunate in this country and I know that he will continue on this trend. Sharaden Ali-Lopes Arima
