Gender bias hurting women
THE EDITOR: I wish to draw to your attention the discriminatory practices against females in the MUST programme of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education. I was thrown out of the training session because they said they wanted more males on the programme. But many males are afraid to join this programme because they are afraid to do the drug test for cocaine, marijuana and alcohol, and many who take it fail.
But why should we females suffer because of this? I am appealing to Ms Hazel Browne and Ms Joan Bishop and other female activists to come to our assistance please. I understand from a friend from Arima also that many females failed to get on the programme there because of their gender. Even tears did not help to change the minds of these cold hearted men in charge. I am appealing to the Ministry in charge of Gender Affairs to please put a hand.
