Unsung heroes of EHS
THE EDITOR: I am compelled to write this letter to the unsung heroes of our land who save lives on a daily basis. About two weeks ago, I was a bystander at the scene of a very unfortunate accident involving two vehicles at the traffic lights in the vicinity of the Port of Port-of-Spain. The police and the fire services were on hand in their numbers and they did a good job, but the heroes who I really wish to mention are the two outstanding EMTs from HHS, whose names I only managed to get as Anjanee and Rakesh in their exchanges while working on the four casualties. I later understood from one of the firemen that they came from the Chaguanas EHS base.
I must commend Anjanee and Rakesh, as immediately upon their arrival, they understood the magnitude of the situation and worked assiduously in caring for the injured. They were very professional and confident in their patient care, but what really struck me was the genuine caring attitude they displayed, which is something so rare in today’s world. It is evident that this is not just a job to these EMTs but a true passion. Such exceptional qualities cannot go unnoticed. It is very reassuring that TT is equipped with such capable emergency health care workers. Witnessing such excellent work first hand really has restored my confidence in today’s youths. To Anjanee and Rakesh, congratulations on a job well done. Keep it up.
