Thank you, motorcycle cop

THE EDITOR: It is so often that one reads about that a bad job the police are doing, that I sincerely hope that you will give me just a little space in your newspaper to commend one dedicated Tobagonian motorcycle cop.

My family went over to Tobago last Friday and unfortunately, got lost almost immediately trying to find Calderhall. Thankfuly, there was a motorcycle cop directing traffic at an intersection in Scarborough.

When we asked for assistance to find our guesthouse, he graciously offered to serve as a guide since his shift was over.

On the way, however, he stopped no less than three times to reprimand errant drivers who were flouting the traffic laws in a most flippant manner, even giving out a ticket to one driver who had tried to take a shortcut by going the wrong way on a one way street. He led us safely to our destination and with a nod, rode off to continue doing his job.

Mr Officer, I wish that I knew your name, or even your number so that I could publicly thank you for your help; but since I don’t know either, I hope that this short letter will suffice. I honestly believe that if Trinidad had more dedicated cops like yourself, it would not be the mess it is today. God bless you and yours.
