PM’s son really needs a gun

THE EDITOR: For the past few years we have witnessed the clowns of Parliament make a mockery out of us. While they spend valuable and expensive time accusing each other, like children, more and more citizens are feeling the pain and hurt of witnessing autopsies on the bodies of their murdered loved ones. We the citizens continue to be the ones at fault whenever answers cannot be found.

Mr Prime Minister, you are responsible for the safety and protection of the lives of the people you govern. The Opposition was voted out. Holding these crime talks and stalling and starting is only baffling the population, thereby turning the crime situation into a political football for the victims, their families and all would-be victims. I am a hurt man. I am pained at this.

Not all politicians are corrupt, not all lawyers defend criminals and not all police officers are bad. We would all like to go home to the sound of mummy and daddy after work. Those who protect and serve fear for their own lives much less others. Nothing is being done to create fear in the ruthless minds of the murderers that would give the police an edge in fighting crime. You can’t stop the rain from falling but you can clear the waterways to ease the flooding. Likewise, you cannot stop the murders altogether but it can be curbed. Just unclog the justice pipeline by obeying the constitution. It is the only way.

No amount of crime talks or programme will solve this problem. Those who advocate the abolition of hangings never offered an alternative solution and have been very quiet over the last few years, going into their holes like the zandoles they are. Those countries that would voice their objections, remind them of their travel advisories on this country.

We must face reality. Put together a most powerful and competent team of lawyers to ensure that part of our justice system can be carried out. I fully support the Prime Minister’s son for seeking a licenced firearm even though he has the State’s security at his disposal. It tells you the amount of fear that other citizens are experiencing.
