Put PM’s house elsewhere
THE EDITOR: As a resident of the St Ann’s, Cascade and HoLoLo area, and one who was a participant of the march Friday (6.30 am to 8.30 am) to let the Prime Minister know, that the President’s Grounds formerly called the Governor General Ground, even though it is State Land, it is not up for grabs, considering its history over the years. One thing was clearly indicated in the march, is that this is a unique and tightly mix community and was under-estimated by Mr Calder Hart, Chairman of the state corporation UDeCOTT. Mr Calder Hart should try to do the correct thing, by being sensitive and leave the playing field for the community, and find another location to build the Prime Minister’s house and added accessories of garden and car park. With all this going on, this writer did not see or I have not heard anything about the Member of Parliament for the area, the Honourable Mr John Rahael, who I think should step forward and speak out against the boldface and insensitive attitude of the UdeCOTT Chairman. To obliterate or destroy this playing field, or any other just for the purpose of putting a concrete jungle in its place, is to rob the community of its history, accomplishment and life.
