Youth Star programme launched in El Dorado

ONE HUNDRED and four schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago are involved in the 2006 Youth Development Star Programme, which was launched at the El Dorado Secondary School on Friday.

There will be 100 coaches in the programme, which will focus on the Form One students of the respective schools.

The sessions in Trinidad began three weeks ago while, in the sister isle Tobago, the sessions got going last fortnight.

The Development Programme is funded by the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago and will take place under the auspices of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) and the Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL).

Sports Minister Roger Boynes and TTCB president Deryck Murray opened the event, which will have two co-ordinators overseeing the programme — William Wallace (North-East and Tobago) and Surujdath Mahabir (South-West, South-East and Central).
