Celebrating the Queen’s 80th

Instead of speeches he asked all present to sing “Happy Birthday” to Her Majesty because it was her 80th birthday, which is surely a milestone in anyone’s life. Spry octogenarian and former president Sir Ellis Clarke agreed, so, too did former president Arthur N R Robinson, soon to join the over-80 club himself.

The innovation pleased more than one guest who sang “Happy Birthday” with a will, and stood in silence for, or joined in singing “God Save The Queen” and the National Anthem of Trinidad and Tobago.
