Yet another road fatality

The 19-year-old grandson of former Chief Justice Sir Isaac Hyatali was killed in an accident at the Beetham Highway at about 5am yesterday, bringing the road fatality toll for the year to 65.

Police reports said Stephen Hyatali was returning home after visiting friends in Chaguanas, when his car picked up a skid on the west bound lane of the Beetham Highway.

Police reports said the car flipped over and landed on the eastbound lane of the highway. Hyatali suffered massive head injuries and was killed instantly.

His body was viewed by a District Medical Officer and ordered removed to the Port-of-Spain mortuary.

The car, registration number PAW 6775 was towed to the Besson Street Police Station.

Hyatali worked at Info-Tech and was described as a computer whiz.

He was deeply involved in cricket, football and go-cart racing.

Yesterday, his father Richard, mother Alana and sister Nikita were comforted by relatives at their Pomme Rose, Avenue, Cascade home.

Friends of the dead man said that Hyatali had a bright future and will be missed. They claimed that he had lots of friends and was very close to his family.

Investigations by the Besson Street Police are continuing.
