3 held in $8M ‘coke’ bust

According to police, at about 10.45 am yesterday, officers of the Western Division Task Force were on patrol on the Cocorite Main Road when they saw a B-14 Sentra car with three occupants known to the police.

The officers gave chase, which ended at Ana Street in Woodbrook. The intercepted vehicle was searched. The cops found several packets of cocaine, estimated at a value of $8 million, and ready for export.

The three persons arrested included a 31-year-old driver; a 25-year-old man and his 24-year-old wife, all from Maracas, St Joseph.

They were taken to the St James Police Station where they were charged with trafficking cocaine. The homes of the three occupants were later searched.

The three arrested will appear before a city magistrate today.
