Amateur boxers off to Cuba olympics
The quintet along with coaches Anthony Waterman and Winston Cox are scheduled to leave on Friday.
And following that Olympic stint, the boxers and coaches will stay on for a one-month live-in camp.
Another three amateurs and coach Patterson Matthews leave tomorrow for St Lucia for a three-day stint. Amateurs selected for the Cuban trip are middleweight Alexi Alexander, light-heavyweight Denzil Salazar, light-welterweight Aaron Prince, super heavyweight Enoch Romeo and welterweight Andrew Fermin. Those for St Lucia are middleweight Al Fassi Ali, lightheavyweight Richard Straker and novice featherweight Dwayne Collins.
Yesterday Cecil Forde, president of the Amateur Boxing Association said the boxers will be using the Cuba stint to prepare for the Caribbean Amateur Boxing Association Champion-ships which will be staged in Trinidad and Tobago.
