Small fire at city mall
The fire was quickly extinguished by fire officers who arrived on the scene within minutes of being called out.
According to reports, at approximately 9 am, a fire started at the south-western side of the building inclusive of the Nail and Clips Salon. The Woodbrook and Belmont Fire Stations quickly responded to the call and controlled the blaze.
Fire officers reported that several rags had been set on fire. Damage was estimated at $10,000.
Fire Services Public Relations Officer John Springle said the officers continue to perform in that they responded quickly to minimise the damage.
“We make every attempt to meet the demand,” Springle said. The Fire Prevention Unit will continue inquiries and advise the owners at the store to be more careful with chemical products.
