Boynes says Lara’s capable

Boynes made the statement following the announcement of Lara’s decision to accept the position as captain of the West Indies team for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe and India. Boynes said that having captained the West Indies on two separate occasions, there is no doubt that Lara is capable of once again leading the regional team in a dignified and purposeful manner.

“Unquestionably the region’s best cricketer in the last 15 years, Brian has demonstrated his maturity during this time as an athlete, captain and individual.

Brian is approaching the twilight of his career, but it is evident that he still has much to contribute to West Indies cricket and the development of young charges he will lead onto the field,” Boynes said. (CMC)
