Dirty environment cultivates dirty minds
The filthiest is Chacon Street, the vagrants’ and street children’s toilet. It is stained with stale urine, human faeces, mounds of garbage and sometimes blood. Pedestrians have to hold their breath, walk with their heads down, and in ‘hopscotch’ style so as to ensure that they don’t walk in the faeces. What does it take to wash the streets and sidewalks on a regular basis?
To the Ministry of Social Development, please do something about those poor street children. Mr Mayor, stop the promises, take action and remove the vagrants from off the streets and get serious about sanitation.
The Prime Minister, the Minister of the Environment, the Minister of Social Development, the Mayor and others who were elected to serve drive along the streets of Port-of-Spain. Don’t they feel embarrassed? Where is our national pride. A dirty environment cultivates dirty minds.
