This ageing son of Great Fapp/Pretty Bold looks to have the beating of his 11 rivals in the 1600 metres race on the turf course.

Gold And Champagne, a son of Still Alert/Champagne Wishes seems to have galloped himself into the reckoning in the West Indies bred three-year-old maidens race over 135 metres.

He was very handy over 1000 metres in one minute 05.60 seconds, and Latonia went over the same distance in a handy one minute 09.40 seconds.

These runners apart, the morning was confined to mainly pace work as trainers fine-tuned their charges for tomorrow’s ten-race programme.

Meanwhile, Republic Bank will distribute special prizes won on Republic Day following the sixth race tomorrow.

John O’Brien and Walter Debysingh will each receive $1,000 as top trainers of the day, saddling two winners each.

The jockeys prize will also be shared between Gary Laban and current champion rider Wilmer Galviz. They too will get $1,000 each.

Ricardo Jadoo gets the $500 for the best ride of the day when he booted home Invincibility to win the feature $100,000 Republic Bank Champagne Stakes.

The top tipster of the day prize was also shared between Kelvin Nancoo (Guardian) and Earl John (Express). Each gets $250.

And Sureash Cholai (Newsday) won the $500 prize for capturing the best photograph and Nancoo got $500 for best feature article.
