Bank worker found dead

According to police reports, at about 1 pm, a handyman was working at the St Francois Valley Road home of Vivian Ramnarine, 43, when he found her sitting on a chair.

When he called out to her and did not get a response, the handyman went to Ramnarine and realised she was not breathing. He raised an alarm and the police were called in.

Officers subsequently questioned the handyman at length. A male suspect was detained.

The body was viewed by the district medical officer (DMO) and removed to the Port-of-Spain Mortuary.

Police sources told Newsday the woman worked at a commercial bank in Central Trinidad and was the daughter of a deceased former Assistant Police Commissioner who worked for many years in Special Branch.

Ramnarine, who was reportedly unmarried, lived alone.

Police sources said they are continuing to investigate the incident and up to yesterday, an effort was being made to have an autopsy carried out to ascertain cause of death.
