D’Abadie woman killed in crash
Gail Legall Wilson was driving her car west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, when the driver of a truck heading east along the same highway, lost control, skidded off the roadway and crashed into her car.
She remained trapped in her car and had to be rescued by motorists. An ambulance took the bleeding woman to Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The crash caused a major pile-up of traffic stretching from Curepe to Port-of-Spain for more than two hours. Traffic officers were quickly on the scene and tried to bring the chaotic traffic jam under control.
The driver of the truck sat dazed under a tree at the shoulder of the highway. He was interviewed by police officers and his truck along with the car was towed to the Barataria Police Station. Officers of the Barataria Police Station are investigating.
