Hott SpotT award

The award was presented on World Intellectual Property Day as countries worldwide celebrated the “contribution made by innovators and artistes to the development of societies around the world.”

Each month COTT will announce an awardee selected from among the most compliant customers/licensees, in an effort to honour and reward corporate citizens who show appreciation for and understanding of the value of music to their business.

These organisations are generally noted for their willingness to pay promptly for the use of music in their business. COTT applauds such responsible actions with the understanding that the revenue from licences translates to royalties for their members and is the creators’ just reward for their creativity, the organisation said in a media release.

Prestige Holdings is the largest restaurant management company in Trinidad and Tobago with 75 outlets, and has been in the local market for over 32 years.

In accepting the award on behalf of subsidiaries KFC, TCBY Treats, Pizza Hut, and TGI Friday’s, Kurtis Rudd, marketing manager of Prestige Holdings, spoke of the company’s pride in being the first-ever recipient of this award. “None will be able to take from us the privilege of having been first,” he said.

Speaking of the key role of music in business, Rudd said: “We have always believed that music, especially local music, must play an integral role in any advertisements we produce.

“We do this as a matter of course. We don’t do it because we expect to get recognition for it. We do it because it is right. We do it because ‘we do it right,’ reiterated Rudd.
