Mucurapo, ‘Gustine’
After trailing 12-9 at the end of the opening quarter of Wednesday’s match at the Pleasantville Indoor Sporting Arena, the Mucurapo boys got into full gear and with Kensley Sandy leading the way with 20 points. They led 30-21 at the half-time interval, outscoring their rivals 21-9.
“Fyzo” kept close trailing by just seven points at the three-quarter stage 50-43, but Mucurapo went on a tear in the final stanza as their opponents weakened pouring in 25 points to their ten for the final scoreline.
Kerry McMillan and Marcus Guert added 18 points each for the winners while Akeil Crosby led Fyzo with 14 points, Kevin Tobias ten, Joel Grimead and Emerson Bradley eight each.
The Mucurapo boys now meet St Augustine Senior Comprehensive, the “Green Machine” in today’s final at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo.
In the Under-15 Girls bracket, Success/Laventille blew out San Fernando East Junior Secondary 34-11 led by Ornella George with eight points, while Crystal Peru, Abiola Lewis and Chris Cox six points each. St Anthony’s moved into the final of the Under-17 boys category with a 67-56 beating of St Benedict’s led by Irno Williams with 223 points.
Kadel Lezama scored 18 points and Ramon Parsons sank 17.
M Daniel led all scorers with 27 points and C Swan, 13, were best for Benedict’s.
Morvant/Laventille swamped Fyzabad Comprenhensive 35-11 in the Girls Open group with Joelissa Cooper scoring 27 points and Crystal Swan, 13. Dashielle Sylvester had six points for “Fyzo.”
And Mururapo Junior Secondary whipped San Fernando East Junior Secondary in the Under-15 Boys division with Jakaya George scored 21 points and Aaron Thomas, 15, for the winners, while Akil Pilgrim, 17, led the “Sando” boys.
