Hazel sees ‘zillions of possibilities’ in education
The minister stressed, “We have come to the end of a truly exciting event, which more than 10,000 visitors witnessed.”
The expo was formally launched by Prime Minister Patrick Manning on Thursday, during which the ministry’s new logo, which stresses the need for excellence in the delivery of quality education to the nation’s children, was unveiled.
Hazel Manning reminded the audience that the mascot for the expo was the Rubik’s Cube — which depicted the faces of “our only customers — the children of the nation as well as several representations of the building blocks of the reforms taking place in education today.”
She said, “The Rubik’s Cube is also symbolic of one of the major essential learning outcomes of our new curriculum — problem-solving. According to mathematicians and scientists, the Rubik’s Cube symbolises trillions and trillions, maybe, zillions of possibilities, and so, too, is education.”
The Education Minister stressed that the “logo which was launched on Thursday serves as a reminder of the incredibly large number of possibilities that education presents.”
She urged the gathering “to take a delight in solving the challenges that education presents, and further take up the problem of the Rubik’s Cube of Education.”
“Let us bring the problem-solving power of our organisation into some form of cohesion so that over the next 11 years we win back our students, one by one, then our mandate for 2020 is secure,” she added.
Manning thanked all of those “known and unknown contributors who meaningfully played a significant role in ensuring the overall success of the expo.”
She emphasised, “Spread the word that many good things are happening in education. Get involved, for education is everybody’s business. Join with us as we strive to provide quality education for all.”
