Mohammed keeps winning
The teenage youngster has been booting home two winners per race day lately, and now heads the open jockeys standings with 22 winning rides, a clear nine wins ahead of nearest rival Gary Laban (13) and 12 in front defending champion Wilmer Galviz (ten).
Meanwhile, turfites will be looking out for Saturday’s racing when the focus will be on the virtual classic Gleneagle Stakes or Fillies Guineas and the Santa Rosa Dash.
When final subscriptions were taken for the Gleneagle which will be contested over 1800 metres, 15 three-year-old fillies were left in.
But a disappointing field of six will contest the Dash over 1200 metres also on Saturday.
Leading the fillies will be Greek Princess, winner of the Royal Colours race last month, but beaten into third later when favoured to win the Republic Bank Ibis Stakes by Magic Moments and Angel Of Music who she will renew rivalry with.
Despite the limited entry for the Santa Rosa Dash, it promises a very exciting finish with the ultra-speedy Ready Set Jet headlining the field, and with the equally speedy Indian Izzi, Invincibility, Twice Infallible, Dauntless Hero and Punto A Punto holding the engagement.
Those in the Gleneagle are: Anthistoowillpass; Angel Of Music; Bellisimo; Danse De Cocoa; Diplomacy; Feelikemakingluv: Greek Princess; Magic Moments; MP’s Gold; Mystery Girl; Ready Or Not; Rhythm Of Life; Roadrunner; Russian Dancer; Sky High.
