Private sector told to recruit OJT grads

The minister made the call while addressing graduates at Friday’s graduation ceremony at Gulf City Auditorium in La Romaine.

Ramroop said private enterprises needed to give the graduates an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

“We want the private enterprise to join with Government to help eliminate unemployment,” Ramroop said.

More than 300 graduates from the south region received certificates for their participation in the programme. Delivering the feature address at the ceremony, Ramroop said the OJT programme was the breaking ground for job experience. He said many young persons were unemployed because they did not have the experience which is often necessary in the job market.

Ramroop said Government was aimed to expand the programme to 10,000 trainees this year and urged the graduates to encourage other young persons to grasp the opportunity to become equipped and ready for the job market.
