Tenants happy with new Breakfast Shed

The popular eating spot was relocated to its present site late last year to make way for the construction of a waterfront complex and to facilitate extension works on Wrightson Road.

The new ultra-modern facility, located just off the Brian Lara Promenade, has 12 stalls with a scenic view of the Gulf of Paria. Tenants told Newsday that limited parking for customers was the only problem at the new location.

Longstanding tenant, Miss Gina, told Newsday she has been at the Breakfast Shed for the past 27 years and has no problems with the new facility.

She said she has a steady flow of customers and her prices are the same as in the old building.

Hazel Blake, a new tenant at the facility, said the kitchen was “okay” but a “little too small” for her equipment. parking was in adequate for customers, she said, noting however, that she was pleased with the new location.

Selwyn Hodge, a regular breakfast shed customer for more than 30 years, said the facility was cleaner than the last and he particularly enjoyed the “natural air conditioned” atmosphere.

He said the prices were “not bad” compared to other restaurants in Port-of-Spain and the restrooms were “up to mark.” Facility manager Helen Rostant was unavailable for comment.
