Enchanted Lake clocks fast 600m gallop

This twice-time winning three-year-old filly, now in the Patrick de Freitas barn, strode out very nicely in stopping the clock at 36.28 for a 600 metres gallop on a main track labelled fast.

Enchanted Lake’s gallop was easily the best on a morning when most trainers decided to ease the pace of their preparations.

Stravinskys Secret from the Walter Debysingh stables looked very easy in posting a time of one minute 08.32 seconds for the 1000 metres.

Sky High, only fourth in the Republic Bank Ibis Stakes, looked full of herself while pacing 600 metres in 44.70 seconds.

Meanwhile, jockey Sheldon Rodrigo drew a $300 for careless riding astride race eight winner Cinco De Mayo on Republic Bank Day.

Gary Hearn, trainer of third placed Private Affair protested against Cinco De Mayo, but the Arima Race Club stewards overruled the objection.

This prompted trainer Hearn to file an appeal to the Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority, but the matter was thrown out.

Another rider to run foul of the ARC stewards on Day 11 was Roger Freeman who was fined $25 for failing to present himself to the clerk of the scales at the appointed time.

And trainer Neale Greaves was fined $100 for presenting his charges Giovanni Galbaradi and Runaway Rocket late to the parade ring. ARC members are reminded of the club’s annual general meeting at Level 2 of the Grand Stand at Santa Rosa Park on May 14 beginning 10 am.
