Kidnap accused tells magistrate:
BEFORE a San Fernando magistrate could finish reading two charges of kidnapping and robbery yesterday, the accused man blurted out to the court, “I am guilty as charged sir. I don’t want to waste time.”
Mac Gyder Doyle, 32, of Lowkie Trace, Penal made this confession when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.
Doyle allegedly kidnapped and robbed Tex Ayhew last Wednesday while he (Ayhew) was plying his car for hire in Ste Madeleine.
Doyle was also charged with robbing Ayhew of his Nissan Bluebird car valued at $9,000, a cellular phone and $250 in cash on April 26.
The incident is said to have allegedly occurred at Bel View Street in Ste Madeleine.
Doyle was also charged with using violence against Ayhew during the robbery.
When Wellington was reading the second charge of kidnapping, the accused said, “I want to plead guilty, sir. I really do it. I is an asthmatic case. I guilty, sir.”
However, Wellington told Doyle, “No, no sir. This is not the time for this.”
The magistrate continued reading the charge which alleged that the accused kidnapped Ayhew.
Court prosecutor Sgt Joey Samaroo recommended summary trial on both charges.
Wellington called on Doyle to plead to the charges. “I guilty,” the accused repeated.
Samaroo requested that the accused be traced to determine if he had previous convictions or pending matters.
Wellington adjourned the matter to May 12.
