Judgment today on interconnection rates
After hearing submissions from attorneys for the two companies and the arbitration panel appointed by the Telecommuni-cations Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) to resolve the interconnection rates dispute, Madame Justice Carol Gobin was supposed to have rendered her judgment yesterday.
However, when the matter was called, attorney appearing for TSTT, Martin Daley SC, requested more time to respond to new submissions filed by counsel for the panel and Digicel.
The dispute was taken before the courts when TSTT filed an application requesting leave for judicial review against the arbitration panel’s decision to come up with an interim decision on the interconnection rates.
The panel, which was ap-pointed on March 31, took this decision when it failed to determine final interconnection rates by its April 18 deadline.
TSTT contends that the panel does not have the power to make an interim decision.
