Tenders for Mamoral Dam

The ad said the works are to commence in August. Promises to construct the dam to alleviate flooding in central were made several months ago by former Works and Transport minister, Franklyn Khan. He had assured that the works would have started in the Dry Season, which ends this month. Earlier this year, present minister Colm Imbert promised that the works would start by July.

The ad explain that package two will entail the construction of three bridges, referred to as bridges one, two and four. Bridges one and two will comprise reinforced concrete abutments and wing walls on driven pre-cast concrete piles and reinforced concrete pile caps. Bridge four is a reinforced concrete boxed culvert with sidewalks, handrails and drains, and with associated asphaltic pavement. Package three will entail works on bridge number five at Mamoral Road and package four will comprise construction of roads and drains.

The ad says in the latter contract the works to be executed are the construction of new stretches of roadway in eight different areas. The works include cutting to form new road profiles, imported road sub-base and base material compacted in layers and finished asphaltic concrete, in addition to drains and handrails along the roadway. The deadline for submission of tenders is May 29 at 1 p.m.
