Big pre-match show planned
The match is billed as the Soca Warriors’ farewell match before they depart for Europe on May 13 for their pre-World Cup preparations and their campaign in Group “B” which starts with the clash against Sweden in Dortmund on June 10.
Through the efforts of TT/Germany 2006 and the backing of chairman Jack Warner, fans will get the chance to warm-up before the match to the music of Destra, Shurwayne Winchester, Maximus Dan, 3-Canal, Rikki Jai, Woodbrook Playboyz Steel Orchestra, Laventille Rhythm Section and Sagicor Exodus among other performers.
Prior to the actual start of proceedings, fans entering the venue will be welcomed by tassa drummers and then at 3:30 pm, Woodbrook and Laventille Rhythm Section will start to heat things up more inside the stadium. Lord Almanac will also perform his track “Heroes of our Land” and Abebele will perform “Vibes it Up.”
Children of the Arima New Government School will also render “Wave your bandanna.”
As match time approaches, Rikki Jai will then take centre stage with his “The boys from TT”, Iwer George will perform his 2006 track “We Reach” and Sagicor Exodus will have a 35-minute mini concert up until 5.15 pm.
There will also be a performance from Carib Shiv Shakti Dancers doing their “Unity Dance,” Falco singing “Goal in Dey Pocoloy,” 3-Canal doing “Vibes it up.”
Colin Lucas will also bring back memories with his 1989 “Football Dance,” Shurwayne Winchester will keep the tempo up with his Road March hits and then Maximus Dan and Destra will set the stage for kick-off with a collaborative performance.
This will end with Maximus doing his “Fighter” before referee Peter Prendergast signals the start of the match which kicks off at 6.30 pm.
Tassa drumming along with the Woodbrook Playboy Laventille Rhythm Section and the cadet band will continue the entertainment during the half-time interval.
TT/Germany 2006 has also planned a reception for the visiting and local media at the Exodus Panyard on the eve of the encounter.
Already, media representatives from Sweden, Germany, England, Scotland, China, Peru, Martinique have started arriving for the encounter. Interest in the match has also been expressed from as far as Jeruselem in Israel.
