Dookeran: One leader for UNC

He made the remark to dozens of supporters on Wednesday night at a house meeting in Rousillac. He declared: “We must take charge — one party, one leader and one direction.”

Dookeran quoted a speech he had made at UNC meeting in February at Chaguanas. “Let us resolve to bring the curtain down on an era of politics which divides the nation, condones betrayal of public trust, tolerates corruption, and actually promotes discrimination.”

During the discussion period, supporters called for Dookeran to be truly allowed to lead the party.

Among those attending the meeting were UNC Senator Sadiq Baksh, former UNC chairman Kama Mah-araj, Chaguanas MP Manhara Ramsaran, and Councillor Basdeo Sharma.
