Maximus and Kees on World Cup soundtrack
“Turn up the music, raise your hands and voices and join the celebration!” Electronic Arts (EA) declared in its announcement of the 35 songs that will usher in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Maximus Dan’s song “Fighter” and “The Calling” by Kees form part of the selection of music which has been pumping up the adrenalin at football games around the world in the run-up to the World Cup. Some of the other artistes on the soundtrack represent several countries including Germany, Italy, England, France Australia, Sweden, USA and Spain.
Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music at EA, said the goal was to capture the spirit, the songs and emotions that filled stadiums across the world on the soundtrack.
“The FIFA World Cup is the most exhilarating, action-packed and emotional sports event in the world. No matter where you are — London, Munich, Sao Paolo or Tokyo, unforgettable songs pulsate through the stadiums, flood the streets and fill your heart. That is the spirit that we wanted to capture for the in-game soundtrack in World Cup. We have assembled an unparalleled collection of exhilarating music from around the world that guarantees there’s something for everyone,” Schnur said.
“Through mass exposure to soccer fans, the following 35 songs will become synonymous with the World Cup Germany worldwide,” Eletronic Arts said in a media release.
