Senate resumes tomorrow
The Bill was brought by Trade and Industry Minister Ken Valley and debate in the Senate began last Tuesday.
Other bills for second reading are: “An act to validate the Fifth Report of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government) Act Chap 25:50 for the purpose of Local Government Elections, an Act to amend the Financial Institutions Act 1993” and “An Act to Amend the Tourism Development Act 2000.”
Also listed on the Order Paper, under private business is the continuation of debate on Professor Ramesh Deosaran’s motion on crime. The debate was in progress when the Senate adjourned on April 25.
Opposition Senator Wade Mark has a motion calling for the Equal Opportunity legislation to be proclaimed and fully effected in TT, and a motion for the House to reaffirm its commitment to the elimination of discrimination “in all its forms and right of the individual to equality of treatment from public authorities.”
Senator Dr Eastlyn McKenzie has a motion listed dealing with the appointment of a joint committee of the House to assess the adequacy of the building that houses the Parliament with a view to planning for long-term accommodation of Parliament and report its recommendations to the House within six months.
